March 31, 2009

I am Catholic, and like most good Catholics, when I am going through something I pray. So I happen to be going through something that required some prayer, and I thought the best way to do that is while getting in some face time with Jesus at Eucharistic Adoration. I am lucky that my church has perpetual adoration.

From Wikipedia "Eucharistic adoration is a practice in the Roman Catholic Church and in some Anglican churches, in which the Blessed Sacrament is exposed to and adored by the faithful. When this exposure and adoration is constant (that is, twenty-four hours a day), it is called perpetual adoration."

Forgot to take a picture today, so here is a picture of Pittsburgh as we flew in over it on Friday. It was so cool, just popping up out of the clouds.

March 29, 2009

Here is my sis in the Pittsburgh airport, giving me the "WTF?!?!" look while we waited for our flight. Apparently the weather was bad in NY, so a flight that was supposed to take off at 5:20, boarded at 6:40, then sat on the tarmac until we could take off at 8:40. UGH!

March 28, 2009

My dog.

Well, I guess since he moved with my parents, he is technically my parents dog, but I still love him like he was my dog.

Smokey, is a pure bred Beagle. He is an old man now, 10 years old. But still so damn cute!

March 27, 2009

Went out to see my parents this weekend, and we decided to take-in a movie. Knowing was very interesting, surprisingly religious, and very thought provoking.

I thought it was a little slow, but no one in my family shared that sentiment.

Second Chance - ShineDown

So I keep hearing the song Second Change by Shinedown on the radio.

Here is the chorus:

"Tell my mother,
Tell my father
I've done the best I can
To make them realise
This is my life
I hope they understand
I'm not angry, I'm just saying...
Sometimes goodbye
Is a second chance"

This got me thinking about relationships and people I know, and I started thinking.. do you ever wonder what would happen if you met some of the people from your past now instead of then? I know it would drastically alter reality, but be hypothetical with me for a minute.

Seriously, what would happen if the friend I just reconnected with on facebook and I never met, and met now intead about 12 years later? Would we still be friends? Would I still have insta-crushes I had when I was a school girl certain guys if I met them now? Would I have married my husband if we met now instead of in 1996? Who knows, but it is fun to think about, and actually a little scary.

The other thing that triggers in me everytime I hear this song, is my thoughts of reaching into my past to try to reconnect with an old friend. Someone I shared silent goodbyes with at 18. Could this be our second chance?

March 26, 2009

Went to get the car serviced today, and right next to the waiting room is this beautiful 2009 Murano LE. This is the car I am trying to talk the hubs into buying me (well I guess technically it is "our" money, but the decision to buy has to be joiuntly approved). I LOVE IT! Of course I don't want it in this color, but I was drooling just looking at it. Maybe soon... just gotta play those cards of persuasion right......and oh yeah actually have money for a down payment! LOL.

March 25, 2009

Here is a lovely picture of my messy bed. Yup, this is where I have spent the majority of my days recently. I have been really sick and home from work. I can barely keep my eyes open. On Tuesday, I was working (or trying to), and I put my head on the table for what was supposed to be 5 minutes... yeah I woke up 4 1/2 hours later.
Think I was tired?

March 24, 2009

Book 2 of the "Evernight" Series was released today, "Stargazer". LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Yes I pre-ordered, yes I read it in one sitting, and yes I am rereading it now.

If you like Twilight, GO BUY THIS SERIES!!!!

March 23, 2009

I love facebook. I reconnected with some friends from High School, and we met up for dinner after work. It was great fun to see them!

March 22, 2009

My brother-in-law bought me this cute little elephant 2 years ago for Christmas. His hang-tag says "I am a Bashful Elephant. Please Take Care of Me". He is soo soft and cute! I just love him!

March 21, 2009

The Bride looked gorgeous and so happy. It was a fun night, and good for people watching too!

March 20, 2009

Have to go to a night wedding tomorrow. I haven't been to one in a while, so I dragged the hubs to Macy's and found this satin beauty on clearance. So exciting!

March 19, 2009

Book 5 of the House of Night Series came out a few days ago. Still can't say it is my favorite series, but yes I bought the hardcover and pre-ordered it on Amazon, and yes I read it in one sitting.

Seriously though, the authors need to learn that recapping every 5 seconds is not that endearing, and they have to finally resolve some issues that have been lingering for 5 books. The time line in the book is not that long!

The Hubs and I went for Chinese tonight. This was my fortune. I believe baby, I believe!

March 17, 2009 - Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I completely forgot to take a picture of my Corned Beef and Cabbage, so here is a picture of the crock pot recipe I use to make it. I started using this recipe a few years ago courtesy of my friend Allie, and it is AMAZING!

I love St. Patrick's Day and I am not even Irish!

MArch 16, 2009

So 8 or 9 years ago my sister was on vacation with her bff Nick Mitchell in Florida, and she brought me back a mini Palm Tree. It was in this cute little cardboard box. This is the first plant I have kept alive. And the only one I have managed to keep alive. These days the Hubs waters it more than I do, but it is still alive and growing! We are gonna try to repot it in the next few weeks, we think it needs more room to grow!

SPRING IS COMING!!! SPRING IS COMING!!! No more snow on the ground!!! YEAH!!!!!

BLOG AWARD!!!!!

So my dear friend Carie over at Love, Life and Everything In Between, gave me this awesome award. Thanks Carie! I love it!

Here's what this award is all about:

"This blog invests and believes in the PROXIMITY-nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement!

Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!

Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this clever-written text into the body of their award."

This award means a lot to me, really. I love that we have become such great friends through just our blogs (and those emails too!), despite the fact that we are so far apart!

Ok on to the sharing! Now I don't have 8 blogs, but here are a few I can think of...

CenzLuccsMom over at Naptime Reflections.
Jen over at JenniferYLA's blog.
Stregga over at Stories from Stregga.

I hope to have many more friends to share awards and blogs with very soon! I am on the lookout for some new reading material and some new friends!

Had lunch with my in-laws today at The Catch, which is a seafood place in Ridgefield. We really like it, but we found out that it is up for sale, so who knows how long it will still be around.

I had my favorite, their incredible Manhattan Clam Chowder, and Alaskan King Crab's legs. Yum!

It was nice to see my in-laws, I got introduced to someone in the restaurant as their daughter. Can't ask for better than that.

March 13, 2009 - Friday the 13th

Cory took me to the movies tonight! How sweet. We went to see Oscar winner "Slumdog Millionaire". It was not the type of movie we typically go see, but we enjoyed it none-the-less.

Not sure I will go buy it on DVD, but I would recommend seeing it. You just have to be in the mood for a drama.

Have I mentioned that I am obsessed with the song Jai-Ho from the soundtrack?

March 12, 2009

I came out of work today, and there was this little tiny piece of a rainbow in the sky. I love rainbows, they always give me hope. Given all I have going on right now, I truly can use some hope!

March 11, 2009

Here's my new laptop. Ain't she pretty? I got a Lenovo Y530. So far I love it, I just have to load all my software on it.

March 10, 2009

Was working at a new client today in Norwich. We all went out to lunch at this little Irish Pub. The food took a while, but it was good once we got it. And I was in good company, so it made it all the better.

March 09, 2009

So this is book 8 in the Sookie Stackhouse Series I pictured a few days ago. It comes out in paperback at the end of the month. I wanted to read it so badly, that I couldn't wait. I hiked myself back to Borders last night (after a call to have it put on hold), to buy the hardcover. Harcover cost $24.95, paperback cost $8.99. But I wanted to read it so badly that I didn't stop until I was done and up way past my bed time.

Drive - Incubus

Since I joined Facebook, and I started to see older pictures of myself posted by myself and some friends, it made me a little reflective. I have often heard that once you hit 30, most people finally feel comfortable in their own skin. And after looking at these old pictures, and reconnecting with old friends (some of whom I have realized I have known for 25 years!), I think I can safely say I am at the point where I am comfortable in my own skin. I am content. And let me tell ya, I look a heck of a lot better at 30 than I did at 16 (of course there is the matter of the extra pounds, but that is another story). I was driving home and heard the song "Drive" by Incubus on the radio and realized it completely sums up how I am feeling. I am truly ready to take whatever tomorrow brings...

"Sometimes, I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear
And I can't help but ask myself how much I let the fear
Take the wheel and steer
It's driven me before
And it seems to have a vague, haunting mass appeal
But lately I'm beginning to find that I
Should be the one behind the wheel

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
I'll be there

So if I decide to waiver my chance to be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive?
It's driven me before
And it seems to be the way that everyone else gets around
But lately I'm beginning to find that
When I drive myself my light is found

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
I'll be there

Would you choose water over wine
Hold the wheel and drive

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
I'll be there"

March 08, 2009

Went down to the local Borders (where some of the scenes of Confessions of a Shopaholic were filmed) to pick up books 8 & 9 of the Sookie Stackhouse series. Of course they were not in stock. Grrr.. So I picked up another new vampire series. I'm sure they'll be one of my pictures soon.

I used to work at this borders from 1999 - 2002. I loved working here. I was surprised to see so many faces of people I worked with still there.

March 07, 2009

Got my hair cut and colored. The color is good. Can't say I love the cut. It just seems a little short.

March 6, 2009

No pictures today. Just didn't take one. Sorry all!

March 05, 2009

My latest reads. The Sookie Stackhouse Vampire series from Charlaine Harris. They are the basis for the "True Blood" tv show on HBO. I bought the first 7 books in a box set, I have been through the first 6, and I am into book 7, which is not in the picture.
I am enjoying them!

March 04, 2009

Went out for a little retail therapy tonight. Had to return a new pair of shoes I accidently ordered in the wrong color to Macy's. Figured while I was there I would shop. Wound up coming hom emptyhanded. Which blows. Retail therapy was supposed to put me in a happy mood and instead it just made me mad (cause I swear sizes are shrinking).

Circus

I have a friend from long ago, who happened to be America's latest funny man. All over the country people were talking about him and his act, as shown weekly on a popular television show. It was a lot of fun for the past few weeks to watch him get more and more attention. It was fun to sit back and know that he was finally getting the attention he deserved. But it sort of made me think....

What does he feel? How is he holding up under the pressure to perform? And on and on....

Then I heard the song "Circus" By Britney Spears on the radio, and it made me think of him.

Here are the first few verses:

there's only two types of people in the world
the ones that entertain
and the ones that observe
well baby I'm a put-on-a-show kinda girl
dont like the backseat
gotta be first

I'm like the ringleader
I call the shots
I'm like a fire cracker
I make it hot
when I put on a show

I feel the adrenaline moving through my veins
spotlight on me and I'm ready to break
I'm like a performer, the dancefloor is my stage
better be ready, hope that ya feel the same

New Shoes! I am obsessed with patent leather shoes. I can't explain it, but I own at least 10 pairs. These are my latest acquisition. Cherry Red Pumps. OMG, I love them... they look so nice under my black pants!

March 01, 2009

My house looks like a graveyard for Valentine's Day Roses.

February 28, 2009

You might not be able to tell from my disaster of a work area, but I was truly quite productive this weekend. I got 46 pages done! Wahoo

February 27, 2009

So this weekend was my girls scrapping weekend in NH. T and I packed up all our scrapping stuff, loaded up the car, and drove into what could have been the set of Friday the 13th. In actuality it was a Christian Retreat Center on a lake in the middle of nowhere. We had no cell signal, and no decent coffee for about 20 miles. The first pic is out the window of the little pizzaria, just a little bumble town. The second is a pic of the lake that was right across from our cabin.
