January's Vegetable of the Month

Item #9 - Try one new vegetable a month.

January's vegetable was brussel sprouts. Not an easy favorite, and not liked by most people I know, but I figured it's green, so it must have some nutritional value, let's give it a go.

We tried them steamed. That was a disaster. They were barely palitable.

Then I tried a recipe with maple syrup and canadian bacon. Yummy! Now that is how to eat brussel sprouts!

Too bad the maple syrup and canadian bacon defeat the whole purpose of eating a vegetable! Unless of course you take the view that a vegetable in your tummy is a good thing, no matter what you had to do to get it there. LOL.

So I promised to continue to blog funny photos. This is from the check-in line at airport. There was a guy, who was dressed completely normally, except for his bright pink socks. So here you go, I give you pink socks:

Nothing

I am thankful that this is the first Sunday where I have nothing to do, and I am happy to report, I did nothing. It is 3:40 pm, and I am still in my Pjs. I love it! I am very thankful for this relaxing day!

Michael Buble - Haven't Met You Yet

So I know this song is about romantic reltionships, but I really can't help but feel it summaries my journey with infertility. I didn't get to meet my first two, but that doesn't mean I won't ever have any chldren. This line especially hits home,

"But somehow I know that it'll all turn out.
And you'll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And I promise you, kid, I'll give so much more than I get.
I just haven't met you yet."

I know there are lots of others out there who struggle with this problem, and have stories much more dramatic than mine. But I think this song summaries and also gives me hope.

Lyrics:
I'm not surprised.
Not everything lasts.
I've broken my heart so many times I stopped keeping track.
Talk myself in.
I talk myself out.
I get all worked up, then I let myself down.

I tried so very hard not to lose it.
I came up with a million excuses.
I thought I thought of every possibility.

And I know someday that it'll all turn out.
You'll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And promise you, kid, that I'll give so much more than I get.
I just haven't met you yet.

Mmmm...

I might have to wait.
I'll never give up.
I guess it's half timing,
And the other half's luck.
Wherever you are.
Whenever it's right.
You'll come out of nowhere and into my life.

And I know that we can be so amazing.
And baby your love is gonna change me.
And now I can see every possibility.

Mmmm...

But somehow I know that it'll all turn out.
And you'll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And I promise you, kid, I'll give so much more than I get.
I just haven't met you yet.

They say all's fair.
In love and war.
But I won't need to fight it.
We'll get it right and,
We'll be united.

And I know that we can be so amazing.
And being in your life is gonna change me.
And now I can see every single possibility, mmmm.

And someday I know it'll all turn out.
And I'll work to work it out.
Promise you, kid, I'll give more than I get,
Than I get, than I get, than I get.

Ohhh!

You know it'll all turn out.
And you'll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And I promise you, kid, to give so much more than I get.
I just haven't met you yet.

I just haven't met you yet.
Ohh, promise you, kid, to give so much than I get.

(I said love, love, love, love...)
I just haven't met you yet

I just haven't met you yet.

Great News

It has been a rough two weeks. Lots of craziness and doctors, but today I got some great news. There is nothing like finding out a test is negative! So I am thankful that nothing serious is going on, and everything can go back to normal. That made my Friday.

December 31, 2009

Here we are at New Year's Eve again. I really do wonder where the year goes sometimes. This year we decided to party at hotel, and who knew I would meet Ray Romano in the buffet line?

It is always a little intimidating to be seated at a table full of people you don't know, but luckily we had a great group! Nothing like Tequila shots to help that out!

And a midnight kiss with my Hubs to fireworks in the background. Here's hoping 2010 is a better year than 2009!

December 30, 2009

Happy Birthday to Me! We spent the majority of the day in the airport or on an airplane, but when you get to complete your journey with views like these, it is well worth it.

After relaxing a little by the pool, the Hubs and I had a nice dinner.

All in all not a bad birthday!

December 29, 2009

Got together with a group of old friends today! It was a great time, and reminded me how blessed I have been in my life to know such great people!

December 28, 2009

With this picture, I was trying to show everyone how windy it was today. I felt like Paul in "Mad About You", when Yoko Ono hires him to make a documentary to capture the wind! LOL.

December 27, 2009

Family picture!

Except for everyone looking a little tired. Not too bad. Unfortunately the picture signaled the end of our visit.

And so it was on to the long road home...

December 26, 2009

Nothing like a post Christmas game of Twilight Scene It.

December 25, 2009

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This Christmas, Jack got a new wardrobe. His Christmas outfit and a snuggie.

December 24, 2009

Christmas Eve is my favorite night of year. I love the anticipation and midnight mass. This year was quiet, and spent with my parents and sister. But sadly no midnight mass at their church. Oh well, there is always next year.

My parent's tree (sorry its blurry I wanted to get the lights):

The Hubs and I before mass. Don't we look adorable in our matching sweaters?

December 23,2009

Anyone want a cookie?

December 22, 2009

The cookies are packed and ready to go to Mom and Dad's tomorrow!

December 21, 2009

Don't I make a cute reindeer?

December 20, 2009

Our annual cookie making day. This year we made snicerkdoodles, chocolate chip, oatmeal toffee, gingerbread men, Italian rainbow, crescents, chocolate covered oreos, and sugar cookies.

This picture is my sister-in-law making candy canes out of the sugar cookies. After watching me attempt one, she said I wasn't allowed to make them because I needed remedial play-doh training. Better sign myself up for some time with my friends children.

December 19, 2009

We attempted to break out wish-bone from Thanksgiving. Only, it didn't quite break into two pieces...

You see the middle piece sort of went flying across the kitchen. So the question is who gets their wish?
